What do I need to hook up my computer to the internet?
You will need an Ethernet cord to access the internet at The Commons. Fusion Broadband is the Internet Service Provider(ISP) that we use at The Commons. If you are having any difficulties or questions, you can contact Fusion at (866)236-6688.

If I am over 21, do I need to have a guarantor?
Yes, it is required by Allen & O'Hara that each resident have a guarantor.

When is my first payment due?
Each payment is due on the first of each month during your lease term.

Unfortunately no, however, you will never have to worry about paying late fees.

What size are the beds?
The beds are full-size extra-long. You can either get those size sheets, or queen size sheets.

Can additional furniture be brought into the apartment?
Yes, but remember that we do not offer storage. Be sure to ask your roommates how they feel about extra furniture. The Commons furniture is not supposed to leave the confines of the apartment.

How much more does it cost to stay here than on campus?
The cost between the two can vary depending on the floorplan you choose. You are usually going to be receiving more for your money when you decide to go with an apartment over a dorm. For more information please contact Kim or Josh at (850)523-1000.

Will you send me a bill each month for rent?
It is your responsibility to remember to pay your rent on the first of each month. However, we do offer a pre-authorized credit card billing at your request. Contact your Resident Services Manager for more information.

How many people live there?
We have 17 buildings consisting of 252 apartments with 732 residents. Remember to be respectful of your neighbors by not blasting music late at night or throwing loud parties during the week. Noise violations will be given out to those who violate their lease in this fashion.

Can I pay my bill with a credit card? Is there an extra charge?
Great News! The Commons added a new feature that lets you pay online! View your balance, submit electronic checks, or pay with a Visa, MasterCard, or Discover from any computer. You can even submit maintenance requests! Just log on to our website, click the "Resident's Only" link and "Pay Rent." This will take you to our resident rent pay portal. There is a small convenience charge for this service.

Do I have to have a meal plan?
No, although we are located near campus, we do not participate in any meal plans. Contact your local university or college for those details.

What utilities are included in my rent?
Your rent includes the following:
-Water
-Sewage
-Trash
Electricity is not included and must be placed in someone's name in the apartment. It is not the responsibility of The Commons to turn your electricity on for your apartment.

When do I put down a deposit?
The only way to guarantee your apartment is to place the $50 application fee and $200 Service fee at the time of signing a lease or filling out an application and paying the total application fee. For more info contact the front office at (850)523-1000.

Is parking available?
Sure, there is plenty of free parking for all of our residents. This comes to you at no extra charge. We do also have carports available which serve as assigned parking spots. You are the only one able to park there, if anyone else does, they risk being towed. The price for a carport is $20 each month. Also, it is not guaranteed that you will receive a carport near your building, this is a first come, first serve amenity. There is visitor parking spread throughout the property. Also, visitor parking is also in front of the clubhouse. If there is no decal on a vehicle and it is parked in a regular spot, it will be towed.

Can I request an apartment or roommates?
Yes, it is our hope to always grant your request; but please remember it isn't always possible. The earlier you sign your lease, the better chances you have a getting your request, but still no gaurantees can be made.

What if I need to cancel my lease?
As stated in your lease, there is no way to cancel your lease; however, you can do a resident replacement. This involves you finding someone to take over your lease. You must pay a $200 Resident Replacement Fee as well. Remember, THAT IS NOT A CANCELLATION FEE! For more information stop by the office and speak with your CA or your Resident Services Manager.

When can I move in?
Your move-in day can be found on the front page of your lease, most of you have already moved in for this current lease term so this would not apply to you. For those of you who have not moved in yet, it would be a date arranged at the time of signing your lease.Currently the move-in date for Fall 2008 leases is August 20th.

Can I use my financial aid?
Yes, however, you must still make the payments on time until your financial aid arrives. For example, your financial aid won't arrive until September 11th, and rent is due on the first. You must still pay the rent on the first. Otherwise you will be charged a late fee of $30 on the third and $5 everyday after that never exceeding $100.

Only 12 month leases are available.

We have 1/1's, 2/2's, 3/2's, 4/2's, and 4/4's.

How close to campus are you?
We are only five minutes from FSU, about ten from TCC, and about ten to fifteen minutes from FAMU.

What is the cost?
Right now there is only a $50 application fee, and the $200 Service Fee. You can find the pricing for each floorplan at "Floorplans and Pricing."

What are the dimensions of the Windows?
In most floorplans, the living room window measures at 3'x5' and the bedroom window measures at 35"x59".

No, although one is showed in the model, it is simply to show you how it would look.

No, a chair will be provided for you.

What do I bring?
Linens, toiletries, cleaning supplies, vacuum, decorations, electronics, plunger, shower curtain, hangers, dishes, laundry supplies, etc. You can often find a checklist at department stores such as Bed, Bath, and Beyond and other stores alike.

How do I use my phone?
To use your phone, you must first dial 9, and then the number. Remember that it is only local phone service. You can receive long distance calls, but you cannot make them. Also, no upgrades are available on your phone service.
