What do I need to hook up my computer to the internet?
All you will need is a working ethernet card in your computer and ethernet cord. These come with most computers now, but if you have an older unit, they can be purchased at any super store or computer store for minimal cost.

What size are the beds?
Our beds are full-size, extra-long. We highly suggest you bring queen-size sheets, which will work well, instead of paying higher prices for "special" sized sheets!

If I pay in full, do I get a discount?
Unfortunately, we do not currently offer a discount for payment in full.

Can additional furniture be brought into the apartment?
You are welcome to bring additional furniture with you, but don't forget that we fully furnish all of our apartments. If you wish to replace some of our furniture and use yours instead, you may be required to rent a storage space here on the property to store our furnishings (our furnishings cannot be removed from the property at any time). Storages are available in different sizes, and in varied locations. The best part is the price -- they run $7, $9 or $12 per month!

When is my first payment due?
Your first payment on a standard lease is due the 15th day of July, each year. If you move in after the standard lease begins, your typical monthly payments will still always be due on the 1st of each month, but your first installment may be due on a different date, based upon when you move in.

If I am over 21, do I need to have a guarantor?
Each individual is different, regardless of age. The determining factor for a Guarantor or Co-Signer is your financial status. Residents can either supply us with a qualified Guarantor, or choose to pay a Security Deposit (completely refundable pending move out charges) equal to three (3) month's rent. Either way you choose to go, we must have your financial backing secured before you can pick up keys and move in.

How much more does it cost to stay here than on campus?
Actually, our facility is typically THOUSANDS less per year than on-campus accommodations!
Back Up Top
Will you send me a bill each month for rent?
We do not mail out any type of invoice or billing--residents are responsible for paying rent in a timely manner without demand from our office, but we do typically post reminders throughout the community when it is time to pay rent.

How many people live there?
Every year the total number varies just slightly, but we currently have 963 residents, friends and neighbors!

Do I have to have a meal plan?
As our facility is an off-campus apartment community, we do not offer meal plans, but you do have a full kitchen with all major appliances provided. And if you don't cook...there's all kinds of fast food and restaurants right down the street!

Can I pay my bill with a credit card? Is there an extra charge?
Great News! College Station at West Lafayette added a new feature that lets you pay online! View your balance, submit electronic checks, or pay with a Visa, MasterCard, or Discover from any computer. You can even submit maintenance requests! Just log on to our website, click the "Resident's Only" link and "Pay Rent." This will take you to our resident rent pay portal. There is a small convenience charge for this service.

When do I put down a deposit?
We are currently running a sign up special which requires you to pay your application and administrative fees only -- no security deposit is currently required! You are required to pay the remainder ($89.00) at the time you sign your lease or reserve your apartment.

What utilities are included in my rent?
We take care of everything EXCEPT your electric (required) and land-line telephone (optional). Here is a list of what we provide:
* Water
* Waste Water
* Refuse Removal
* High-Speed Internet in each Bedroom
* Extended Basic Cable + HBO in all rooms

Can I request an apartment or roommates?
As long as we still have openings, you can request specific apartment locations and specific roommates. We do fill up early, so don't wait -- call now!

Is parking available?
We offer ample parking for all residents, and lot parking is free as well as first-come-first-serve. For those of you that like a little more protection or the assurance of a reserved spot, you can also rent a carport for $15.00 per month.

What if I need to cancel my lease?
We do not have a "lease cancellation" clause to our contract, however, you can find someone to take your lease over with an option called "Lease Reassignment" -- and we can help! Please email us at wabash@edrtrust.com to request more information.

When can I move in?
The majority of our residents all have leases that begin on a set day in August (for 2008, that was August 9th). If we still have openings after that point, you can move in at any time once we have received your sign up fees and financial paperwork!

What is the cost?
All of our prices are quoted "per room" because we only offer individual leases. Please call the office for current price quotes.

Can I use my financial aid?
Please email Kim Williams, our Resident Services and Accounting Manager, for an information page about how to pay your rent with financial aid. Her email address is kwilliamswabash@edrtrust.com
